Along with Matthew learning more words, he has discovered how to ask "why?" What's funny about Matthew, though, is that he rarely gives us a chance to answer. Whenever Matthew asks "Why?" he immediately follows it up with "'cause."
Looks like a win-win for us: it's awfully cute, and he accepts his own answer! (for now...)

A conversation with Matthew
Matthew is becoming quite the talker these days, and while there are still plenty of words he uses that we don't understand, communicating with each other has been a lot easier. We had this conversation last night:
Matthew (holding a play-food container): Wranch! [have we mentioned that Matthew loves ranch dressing? and that he'll dip anything he can get his hands on it it?]
Me: Is that a bottle of ranch?
Matthew: Yesh. Saucsh.
Me: Is ranch a kind of sauce? [Matthew's love of ranch has turned into a love of all sauces that you can dip foods (or fingers) in]
Matthew: Yesh.
He then pretended to pour his ranch dressing on the floor.
Matthew: Fdloor!
Me: Did it spill on the floor?
Matthew: Yesh. [he pauses, pointing at the floor]. Mesh!
Me: Yes, that would make a mess!

Curvi-what?!
Daniel walked into the room yesterday and handed me a shape, saying, "Here Mom, here's a curvilinear triangle."
Curvi-what!? Don't tell my 8th grade geometry teacher, but I had to Google it to remember. Well, he was right. It was a curvilinear triangle.
And here I thought all he was doing in preschool was finger painting.

Uh...no
During a quiet [!] car ride the other day, Daniel out of nowhere says:
"Mom, come on. I'm old enough to have a slingshot."
I'm not sure where it came from, but he was so serious it was scary.

Fun Outside
Before our crazy snowy weather came, the big boys were able to go outside and play for a bit between the rain showers. All these two need in order to have fun are some sticks and and a rake.

Jam Session (or Pa-JAM-a Session?)
Daniel's favorite pajamas have been his "rock star" pajamas for awhile now.
In fact, they are so important to him that he doesn't wear them often so they'll be clean and ready to wear in case a certain lady babysitter comes over. Then Aaron received a pair of his own rock star pajamas, so Mommy bought Matthew his own pair as well. Here are the Hanzeli boys, rocking out in their favorite jammies.

Aaron was supposed to get the ukelele but Matthew latched on to it and wouldn't trade it. So Aaron gets to sit next to a guitar that is twice his size.
Got my ukelele!
Daniel LOVES to play the guitar.
Playing a little duet.

Snow Day!
Though we didn't get nearly as much snow as the areas surrounding
Seattle, we had enough to cancel school. The idea of a snow day was lost
on Daniel--he was disappointed that his school was closed. We made up
for it with lots of fun outside, and hot cocoa afterward.
It took 30 minutes to get everyone all bundled up, but here are the boys, ready to go outside!
Snow angel!
Matthew promptly fell, and just sat there for awhile. Apparently it's hard to move with 5 inches of clothing on.
I'm not sure what is happening here...
Oh. Snowball fight.
Yummy snow!
Matthew tries to rake up some snow.
Sled rides in the backyard.
Our snow creature. (We took 20 pictures of this, trying to get everyone to look, smile, and keep their eyes open. This is the best one we got.)
I want to believe Daniel was just trying to give the snowman a hug. This looks a bit more sinister, though.
Matthew finally gets his "snow legs."
Snow brings pure joy. He is definitely his father's son.
Back inside for some [warm] hot cocoa.
