Matthew decided to make his arrival shortly after Mass on Saturday. Wow, it went a lot faster than Daniel's 36 hour labor. We thought we had plenty of time. Turns out we only had about 3.5 hours from serious labor until birth.
Things got pretty intense about halfway through Mass (~5:30pm). After Mass we headed home for what turned out to be a short stay. It didn't take us, and our friend Julie (a nurse), long to realize that we needed to head to the UW Hospital pronto - Michele could barely speak.
We arrived and our awesome team of nurses and midwives had everything ready. She was 7cm upon arrival. During a break in contractions, Michele used the restroom - but never made it out. Matthew wanted out and he didn't care where! Our little miracle was born right then and there and 9:07pm!

Many Congrats Chris and Michele. What amazing joy! We are so happy for you four. Audrey Bernadette looks forward to meeting another friend. And since Matthew is a boy, Michele Clare Johnson owes us 5 free nights of babysitting. A girl would have cost of $50.

Whooohooo! I was just thinking that I should call and suggest an outing to the zoo or something if Michele hadn't had the baby, and then saw this blog! What a good-looking kid! Congratulations to all of you. I'm glad it was under 36 hours! We'll give you a call and bring food soon.
