Super play structure

Saturday night was rough for Matthew, and Sunday was rough for everyone. We did have a nice visit with Nana and Papa today after Mass, but I didn't end up getting to take any pictures of the fun that was had. So, instead of getting into the details of the cranky parts of our day, I thought I would post about the fun new toy in our yard that was made possible by Nana and Papa.

If you've been reading this lately, you've heard mention and seen bits and pieces of the new play structure in our yard. We were a bit reluctant to add such a huge piece of equipment into our tiny yard, but with two super-active kiddos and one chomping-at-the-bit baby we finally gave in and said goodbye to our mostly empty yard and hello to hours of new fun for the boys. And, as it turns out, the structure really doesn't use up too much of the yard. In fact, it sits mostly on the back part of the yard that is usually just dirt since the neighbors' trees don't allow for any sunlight or rain to get in there. We'd been eying this model from Costco for awhile, planning on having it built before Chris left for Minnesota as a fun distraction for the boys, and it turns out we got it just in time: our Costco had the last one in the state (other than the floor model, which we would've had to take apart and reassemble ourselves). So, last weekend was set aside as a work weekend and the boys got to help Daddy, Papa, Uncle Ian, and Uncle Victor put together the structure. The four men worked till midnight the first day, and Daddy and Papa finished it up from 10-5 the next day. They must really love these boys to work so hard for them!

Matthew unpacks wood pieces while Daniel reads off the codes to Uncle Victor and Papa.

 Organizing the pieces.

Uncle Ian, Daddy and Papa get some help from Jacob, Daniel and Matthew.

Sometime after 10 pm, the part one of the roof goes up.

It fits!

Back to work! Part two of the roof isn't going to build itself!

Day two: Daniel gets to try out the rings.

If you ask which part of the play structure is his favorite, he'll say the whole thing...but it's clear the rings/bar get more attention from Daniel than anything else right now.

Finished! The boys check it out.

Matthew loves to climb up top. Getting down is another story.

Looking awfully ragamuffin-ish, the big boys enjoy their dinner in their new playhouse.

Great job, guys! Thank you Nana and Papa for this wonderful addition to the back yard. Hours of fun will be had here...

Thanks and epic picture post

A big THANK YOU to all the family and friends who have given us dinners, prayers, babysitting, and support while we welcomed Aaron into the world.  You have all been so kind to us and given us so much.  We truly appreciate everything, and keep you all in our daily prayers.  God bless you, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

As it's been a while since we've posted, enjoy some recent photos over the past month.

Daniel, the working man.

Play time with the Stamschrors!

Aaron takes the Australian wonder-bed "Amby-Baby" for a test drive.  Thank you for the loan, Bernsteins!

Though the sun was out, it's surprisingly difficult to smile in 25F weather.

The family picture smile bribe.

So comfy.

Daniel drops in on one of Aaron's pictures.

It's the night of the big Christmas program at St. Alphonsus, and Daniel pays close attention.

The beautiful sound of 30+ preschoolers singing in unison.

Role Reversal: now it's time for Daniel and Cora to get married.

The annual kid Christmas picture at the Goffs...but sadly we forgot to take it until after the Marcus left.

Best gift ever: the box.

Daniel reads Aaron the book "Angel in the Waters".  If you have kids and don't have this book, get it.  It's adorable.

Daniel warms up for the big concert with his brother.

Gotta tune before you play.

Daniel and Matthew rock out on their "tu-tars".

Merry Christmas, Fr. Jordan!

Aaron's Godparents: Matt and Katie Eusterman.  Thanks again for making it out to Seattle guys!

Play-date with the Eusterman girls, Ellie and Cecilia.

Daniel and Ellie read together.

PLAY FORT!!!!!

"Dat's Dunny"

Daniel's personality is really starting to emerge. More of his "preferences" are coming out. For example, as he woke up this morning he decided to share with us all the things that he thinks are "dat dunny", which is his way of saying "that's funny". Here is what Daniel thinks is "dat dunny".

1. Roosters
2. Airplanes
3. Boats
4. Cars
5. Aunt Julia (Chris' aunt)
6. Uncle Victor (Chris' uncle and Godfather)
7. Chickens
8. Injuries

In regards to number eight, I don't think he's being totally honest. The last time he hurt himself I don't remember him laughing.

Danieldinho

Daniel got to practice some of his soccer skills while watching his second cousin Thomas play the other day. With his small size and agility, Daniel was a formidable opponent.

Daniel: "If you get tired, I can sub in for you."
Daniel wore his Germany replica jersey in honor of his cousin's team.

Great Uncle Victor teaches Daniel some skills for inside the box.

With just a little assistance, Daniel can reach the crossbar.

Not only did Daniel get to see his cousin Thomas, he also got to play with his cousins Olivia and Jordan...the only two people at the game that could keep up with him!

Daniel with his beloved Great Uncle and Aunt, Victor and Julia.

Inspired to practice his soccer skills after the game, Daniel works out at home. Note to Daniel: We're pretty sure FIFA doesn't allow stuffed animals on the field with players:)
