Bodega Bay Road Trip, Part 2

After driving all day Thursday, we slept REALLY well at Casey and Monique's house in Petaluma. The boys were really excited to get up and see little Emma in the morning...

16 hours in a car will really make you appreciate toys the next day. The boys stayed pretty busy with Emma and the toys (and Orion the dog) as we adults got packed up and ready to head out to Bodega Bay.

Bodega Bay is on the Sonoma County coast. It was just beautiful.

 Casa Santa Rosa

and it is definitely a comfortable and fun place to stay. (Thanks, Matt, for showing us the panorama function on our phones...) Lots of room for everyone, and very close to the beach. After lunch we put Aaron down for a nap and took Matthew and Daniel down to the beach.

There was no waiting around...the boys took off down the beach.

Matthew was particularly excited about the beach. He was so sad the night before...he could not understand why it was that we were IN California but NOT at the beach. To Matthew, California = beach. So, the lucky kid got to skip his nap so he could see the beach as soon as possible.

There was a lot of hunting for sticks...

...and logs...

 ...and more logs...

...and throwing the sticks and logs into the water.

Then we found a giant rock to climb.

There Daddy goes...

...all the way to the top.

The sun left us for a bit, and the beach started to look a little spooky. (By the way, Bodega Bay is where Hitchcock's "The Birds" was filmed...)

There were some cool rock formations on the beach.

Time to head back to the house!

Aaron woke from his nap with quite the crazy bed head.

The boys played for the rest of the afternoon with Emma's toys, and some of our road trip projects.

 Matthew's felt robot.

Daniel's finished robot (with robot dog).

And our day ended with a cloudy sunset over Bodega Bay.
